Cold air from vents does not always mean the furnace is dead. On a gas furnace, the blower may run while the burners never light. On an electric furnace, the blower may run while a heating element stage has failed. In both cases, air moves without heat.
Thermostat and wiring faults can also cause cold air. If the thermostat cannot send a call for heat, the furnace may run the fan only. Duct leaks can make the problem worse, by losing warm air before it reaches far rooms.
Note when the cold air happens: at startup, all the time, or only in one room. That detail helps us narrow the fault. A full diagnostic tests heating stages, controls, and airflow in order, so we replace the failed part, not a guess.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is air cold at startup?
A short period of cool air at startup can be normal while the heat exchanger warms. Persistent cold air is not.
Can one room be cold while others are warm?
Yes. Duct, damper, or airflow issues can cause one cold room even when the furnace heats.
Should I turn the fan off?
If air is cold, turning the fan to auto can stop constant cold airflow, but it does not fix the fault. Call for a check.
Is cold air an emergency?
In cold weather, yes, treat no heat as urgent and call us.
